How does monkey sponsorship work?

Monkey sponsorship through Charity Shop supports monkeys rescued from the pet trade and performing, now cared for at WARN partner rescues. £45 a month funds enclosure care and companionship in a troop for one monkey — the social life every monkey needs — with a personalised e-certificate, giftable in someone's name.

Who should skip this: Skip this if you wanted to rehome a monkey in the UK, needed Gift Aid, or expected a posted toy pack. Sponsorship funds named monthly care; nobody takes the animal home. You can cancel through WARN.

Do I own or adopt this monkey?

No. A monthly sponsorship here is costed care, not a pet and not a symbolic wild-animal adoption pack. Compare the models in sponsor vs adopt and symbolic vs costed.

Where your sponsorship goes

Donations are received by World Animal Rescue Network, a community interest company with a statutory asset lock — no shareholders, no private gain — which directs funds to its partner shelters and sanctuaries across Asia, Africa and South America. The about page states the exact legal structure; figures on this page are reviewed quarterly (last review 17 July 2026).

Monkey sponsorship questions

What does a monkey sponsorship pay for?

A month of enclosure care and companionship in a troop for one rescued monkey — £45. An arrival vet check (£30) or a week of food (£10) can be given as one-off gifts too.

Why is troop life so important for rescued monkeys?

Primates are deeply social — isolation as pets causes lasting psychological harm. Life in a companion troop is where rescued monkeys recover normal behaviour.
