About
Two names, one job: getting care to animals
Who is behind this shop?
Charity Shop UK is the shop window. World Animal Rescue Network CIC is the rescue organisation behind it: an asset-locked community interest company that receives every donation and directs it to established partner shelters, sanctuaries and rescue organisations across Asia, Africa and South America.
What your money does
Every tag in the shop is priced at the real cost of a named piece of care — food, vaccination, sterilisation, vet treatment, sanctuary places. WARN raises funds and makes grants to, and works in partnership with, established frontline rescues: the people already feeding street dogs, running sterilisation and vaccination programmes, and giving working and wild animals the treatment a hard life never did.
The asset lock, in one paragraph
WARN is registered as a community interest company, which means a statutory asset lock is written into its constitution: no shareholders, no dividends, no private gain. Any surplus is reinvested in the animal-welfare work. If the company were ever wound up, its remaining assets would pass by law to an asset-locked body — the nominated recipient is World Animal Protection, the international animal welfare charity.
Why donations finish on a different website
Donations are processed on WARN's secure platform at worldanimalrescuenetwork.org. When you pick a tag here, you're transferred there with your gift already selected — you'll see both names the whole way, and you can review everything before paying.
Fair questions
Is World Animal Rescue Network a charity?
It is a community interest company (CIC) — a not-for-profit company regulated by the CIC Regulator, with a statutory asset lock. Like a charity, it cannot distribute profits or assets for private gain; unlike a charity, it cannot claim Gift Aid, which is why you won’t see Gift Aid offered here.
What is a statutory asset lock?
A legal rule built into a CIC’s constitution: its assets must be used for its community purpose. If the company ever closed, remaining assets would pass to another asset-locked body — in WARN’s case the nominated recipient is World Animal Protection, a registered charity.
